How often will I need to come in for appointments?
An experienced chiropractor Dr. Steven Schram is the “mythbuster” of chiropractic care. While many fear being told that they must come for 3 times a week for the rest of their lives, Dr. Schram’s focus is complete healing, as quickly as possible with as few visits as needed. You may start at 3 visits a week, but rest assured you won’t stay there!
Making your first chiropractic appointment is the best way to start the process. The general goal is to achieve a life free from pain. Targeting specific pains are part of this process. It’s also the first step toward a life free from prescription drugs that only mask the symptoms. However that first appointment is also how Dr. Schram determines a course of treatment that will help lead to improve your overall health and optimize complete healing, quickly.
Dr. Steven Scram learned throughout his many years of training, that a body properly aligned and free of spinal nerve interference, has an amazing healing potential.
All Patients Are Not the Same, Nor Should They Be Treated the Same
The number of chiropractic appointments required depends on many factors.
Chronic pain is treated differently from acute or temporary pain. Also, the length of time a vertebrae or joint has been out of alignment makes a difference too. This is because the muscles and soft tissue that surrounds vertebrae and joints are adversely affected and then compensate for the misalignment in the joint. In compensating, they “learn” to restrict the joint movement and “protect” it, knowing it’s not in its proper place. In these circumstances, when the joint has been out of alignment for a long time, the muscles need to be slowly stretched to allow room for the joint to be put back into the proper place within the joint space. Does this take more than one chiropractic appointment? The answer is likely “yes.”
Dr. Schram certainly does not want the visit itself to cause more pain, so he strives to find the ideal techniques and methods for any given patient with any given problem. He is skilled in Deep Force Adjustments (that’s when you hear the joint make a popping sound) to slower, more gentle methods that offer the highest level of comfort for his patients. While this can take multiple visits, the real value of chiropractic care is that once properly aligned, you are well on your way to getting your life, and a pain free back–back.
Your First Visit
On your first visit with Dr. Steven Schram, he will try to find the root causes of your condition, whether it be muscular, skeletal, ligaments, or something else. And, while he cannot promise it will be your last visit, he can promise you that the goal of every visit will be to relieve your pain and get you feeling great again.
By listening intently and observing you carefully, Dr. Schram will seek to trace the trail of pain, as well as use the palpation technique to seek out the root cause of pain. Adjusting, stretching and massaging along the way, he will work as quickly as possible to provide relief.
While patients with little experience in chiropractic fear too many visits, there are many who believe in chiropractic care a preventive measure, which it is. They see every chiropractic appointment as a way to ensure a strong, healthy body, free of pain, injury and illness, long term. Whether dealing with a serious physical condition, or just looking to prevent one, Dr. Steven Schram’s commitment to every patient is the same, get you back on the road to feeling just right–right away.
